Puckerings of Flamborough

Puckering arms

The origins this family are not known, though they might be an offshoot of the Pickerings of Killington or Ellerton. Nor is it known why they adopted the alternative spelling of their surname, which appears towards the mid 1550s, when Robert Puckering was the crown’s bailiff of the manor of Flamborough from 1540 to 1541.
