Peter Pickering is a mystery. He claims on his Mate’s Certificate to have been born on 15 September 1808 in Hull, but no record of his birth or baptism has been found, nor is there a record of his marriage to Ann Postell. I’d be please to hear from anyone who can throw some light on the origins of this couple.
